Anyone who has ever driven a Volkswagen camper can attest to its distinctive charm, blending timeless design with impressive versatility. Over the decades, it has brought joy to millions and become a beloved symbol of the surfing culture that thrives today. However, the origins of this iconic vehicle trace back to a darker chapter in history, when Adolf Hitler’s ambition led to the creation of the legendary Beetle.

Following the Second World War, stripped-down Beetles served as makeshift trucks, transporting parts around the Wolfsburg factory. It was Ben Pon, the first to introduce Volkswagens outside Germany, who recognized their greater potential. His vision paved the way for the debut of the Type 2 T1 camper van—affectionately known as the "bus"—in 1950.

Through numerous evolutions over the years, the VW camper remains an enduring favourite, continuing to capture hearts around the world.
